Today, flower arrangements are a combination of diversified styles such as the oriental or line design that includes triangular flower arrangement, and the European style commonly called mass design. This mixture of line-mass is also termed geometric design which is popularly called Western line design.
You will notice that that shapes of some arrangements are full and mass, while there are others that exude clearer linear in appearance with more transparent line and negative space. In either way, however, floral arrangements are categorized into specific geometrical shape groups like the triangular flower arrangement. This kind of flower arrangement is commonly seen in Professional and Personal functions.
Here, the measurement of height and width are the same with flowers where they are used as basis to establish the focal point. This is created in a triangular shape that appears to be very attractive. In this case, the flower arrangements are usually put on buffet tables or in side stations which can be found in many ceremonies. This triangle shape is popular in a number of floral arrangements, and usually has 3 distinctive sides and 3 angles, tips or corners.
In forming a triangular flower arrangement, you can follow these simple tips. First, prepare the flowering stems or leaves, and after calculating the horizontal width and vertical height, you can paste the foam in a container. With stems positioned in a triangular shape, put the focal flowers at the center of the arrangement. Then, fill-in the empty spaces with foliage and flowers in a triangular shape.
You can have roses, chrysanthemums, daisies, anthuriums or carnations to serve as focal flowers. For fillers, you can use yellow peacock, forget-me-not or white peacock. In maintaining a triangle shape, you have to use flowers that are tallest in height, and place them at the center of the arrangement. For the sides, you have to put smaller flowers in order to follow the triangle shape.
In maintaining this shape, arrange the flowers in such a way that the height should be greater than the width, and let the flowers be in a drooping position on the surrounding areas of the container. Remember that in triangular flower arrangement, the middle portion should contain the tallest stem of a flower, and the filler flowers are placed in a circle surrounding the middle portion that makes a triangular shape that looks symmetrical or asymmetrical.
Symmetrical means that the arrangement has 3 equal sides in all, while asymmetrical has 3 unequal sides creating a more casual look instead of formal one. In outside view, these floral arrangements should show the tallest flower stem at the center that shrinks slowly in size as they extend to the sides.
Usually, they exude a kind of formal look that they are in great demand at formal events like weddings and funeral services. In reality, triangular flower arrangements belong to the most ordinary types of arrangements due to their simplicity and pleasing symmetry; however, many people think that their profile is too formal to be used daily.
