The Benefits of Knowing the Different Types of Flower Arrangements

If you know the different types of flower arrangements, it would be easy for you to create your own design of flower decoration every time you organize a party in your home.  The art of flower arrangement was discovered centuries ago, then, it was adopted by many nations across the globe, turning it into different forms in many countries.

Now, it has become a great part of different cultures around the world.  This flower arrangement appeared first in Classical Roman and Greek times.  Then, it as been recognized as a great art in Europe between the periods of 14th and 17th centuries before it was handed down to America, Japan and China.  You’ll find traditional styles in types of flower arrangements with Flemish, Waterfall, Phoenix, Beidermeier and Mille de Fleur.

The signature style of Flemish is the one that is made up of different flowers in 1 flower arrangement, based on the principle that the more flowers used in a flower arrangement, the better.  Then, we have the Waterfall which makes use of cascading flowers and materials.  In this particular style, flowers are flowing down the edge of the flower vase or container.

If you want to organize this, you have to use a tall container where you are supposed to arrange the flowers in Waterfall style layers.  Among the different types of flower arrangements that are traditional in style is the Phoenix.  It’s actually a mixture of Flemish and Mille de Fleur.

In the case of Beidermeier, it is best described by round layers in a certain arrangement, and each layer has only 1 kind of flower making each circular layer’s outline clear and clean-looking.  On the other hand, Mille de Fleur mimics the style of Flemish with an integrated variety of flowers and different colors in a particular arrangement, usually with carnations and roses, and its form is usually circular.

The natural style type of flower arrangement is inspired by nature making use of Landscape, Vegetative and Botanical styles.  In forming a Landscape style, you should use some elements of nature such as twigs, colorful stones, pebbles, etc.  Referring to the Vegetative style, this is the kind of flower arrangement that is the most natural-looking.

In this type of arrangement which is done either in a radial or parallel manner, the flowers are shown growing from the soil as their natural habitat.  In the list of popular types of flower arrangements, the Botanical style is focused on having a beautiful garden.  If you want to have a garden look, you should incorporate some buds in the arrangement apart from using fully-bloomed flowers.

For the Linear style, there are 4 styles included; namely, New Convention, linear rectangular, formal linear and Western.  In the first style, flowers are arranged in perpendicular angles, then, inserted horizontally and vertically without intersection.  In Formal Linear, the arrangement is stressed on the mass and lines, while in Linear Rectangular, curve and straight lines are used when the area is limited.

Among the 4 types of flower arrangements, the Western Line is different for having an L-shape, and that the main flowers are placed at the middle of the arrangement.
